Krishna Prema`s Food for Thought 2018 # 1 - Whenever you find time, you write!

Srila Prabhupada very much encouraged his disciples and followers to write.

To write means to remember what we have heard. It is a way to reflect, to express and share our own realizations.

„Always you should be active. Whenever you find time, you write. Never mind, two lines, four lines, but you write your realization. Sravanam kirtanam, writing or offering prayers, glories. This is one of the function of the Vaisnava. You are hearing, but you have to write also. Then write means smaranam, remembering what you have heard from your spiritual master, from the scripture.“ 1

So since a couple of weeks, I was reflecting on how to increase my writing activities. I love to write, but often I don`t find the necessary time to actually do it. Maybe I should start to write a regular blog? But then I had doubts. Why should I write? What realization do I have to share?  Who am I to instruct others on spiritual matters?  As Bhaktivinoda Thakur said: “Absorbed in abominable activities, I never kept company with sadhus. Now I adopt the garb of the sadhus and instruct others. This is Maya's big joke.” 2

But on the other hand, there are thousands of people writing all kind of nonsense not related to Krishna or God Consciousness. So why should I not at least try to share some positive thoughts on Krishna Consciousness topics? Or as Srila Prabhupada pointed out: „If the ear is not engaged in the service of the Lord by hearing about Him from Bhagavad Gita or Srimad Bhagavatam, certainly the holes of the ear will be filled with some rubbish. Therefore the messages of Bhagavad Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam should be preached all over the world very loudly.“ 3 In other words; there is a great need of spreading Krishna Conscious thoughts!

Inspired by H.H. Dhanurdhara Swami`s weekly Blog `Monday Morning Greetings` I decided to publish a weekly blog, something that would force me to absorb more in writing. Recently an astrologer told me that at the beginning of my Krishna Consciousness I was cooking and nourishing people around me with delicious foodstuff, but that now I am meant to nourish people more with intellectual food by teaching Krishna Consciousness philosophy. Remembering this statement I call this Blog: ` Prema`s Food for Thought`.`Food for Thought is defined as „Information or knowledge that is worthy of contemplation or anything that provides mental stimulus for thinking“.

Since today is Akshaya Tritiya (Akshaya - imperishable, eternal /  Tritiya - third lunar day), an extremely auspicious day to begin any new project, I thought it would be great to start my blog today. This weekly writing will be mainly for my own purification. And If some of you get a little nourishment from what I share, then I consider my endeavors specially blessed.
